on this food-related series of posts lest i omit to mention the christmas feeding at julian’s:there was the obligatory turkey (expertly carved with julian’s tableside coaching - “okay, you make a lateral incision to the medial point…no, no! not like that!“), cranberry sauce and gravy and stuffing (mike: it has less oomph than usual); candied yams (marshmallows lightly scorched), roasted potatoes (v. crackly), gratinated beans and mushrooms (so-so, julian blushes), beetroot, pickled onions, boiled carrots, brussel sprouts topped with almond flakes; and afterwards, christmas pudding and rhubarb pie, a startlingly sweet sauternes, darjeeling to end.
