it’s not that i particularly enjoy cooking, and in singapore usually one or the other parent does so, but since we had a new kitchen put in, and as we’ve not had home-cooked food since october, i’ve quite liked messing about with the pots and pans.

things cooked in new kitchen, a very short list:

1. tofu omelette, rather like a spanish tortilla: cubed zucchini and mushrooms simmered japanese-style in dashi, mirin, sake and shoyu; tofu mashed and whisked with the eggs till creamy.

2. gratinated potatoes (oozing with cream) with minced beef.

3. zucchini noodles (shaved flat and wide to kwayteow width), topped with shredded chicken, cashews, coconut milk and peanut sauce (mirin, soy sauce, honey and peanut butter.)

if i can get up early tomorrow to go marketting, i might try and bake a french yoghurt cake with lemon and apricots.
