the 13 kids of my first year legal research/writing class are the closest thing i have to a form class in law school, and they manage to find a different way to surprise me every year.

first year they caught me completely off-guard by producing a cake (with the correct number of candles!) at the end of a tutorial.

second year they lured me down to the canteen a day early, where there was a prata party waiting.

this year i thought nothing could possibly happen because we’re all in different electives and not even in school on the same day, but they conspired and lay in wait outside my classroom with a slice of nutella cake and a photo of a candle (because fire hazard) and i walk smack into them opening the door.

i will miss them awfully, my lovely and silly kids. and here, in fact, they (we) are again.
