snagged one today at (yet another) sell-out book signing (midview city, you are truly troublesome to get to. when the landmark to press the bell for is said to be a primary school, said school ought look like a school, be actually visible from the road, and not be under renovation and hidden behind a lot of construction fences.). from what i’ve read of it so far (which is not a lot  — i’d started reading it on the train home, but when i got home the father borrowed it to take a look’ and 45minutes later he is still sitting in the same place reading) it is charming and witty and poignant and acute. get one, especially if you’re a singaporean abroad. american, french and italian editions to be published next year, a little bird tells us.
