At dinner, Julian tries to give Su-Lin (chronic insomniac - more tragic than anyone in a Robert Aickman story) and Minz (vivid dreamer — one day I’m going to end up like that Kim Kiduk movie) advice on sleep hygiene:

J: … also, you mustn’t read in bed.
Us [Outraged]: But reading in bed is *how* we go to sleep!
J: Well then you’ll just have to stop.
M: No! I’d rather sleep badly than not read in bed!
J: you could read somewhere else then get into bed when you’re sleepy?
S: Are you done teaching me how to sleep?!

J: Chocolate, turkey and bananas are the three things that are absolutely forbidden during sleep studies.
S: Doesn’t this make you want to make a turkey-chocolate-banana sandwich?
J: It was [a subject’s] birthday [during some sleep study] and suddenly the boss sailed in with a chocolate birthday cake. My post-docs turned to me in horror, clawing their eyes out!
M: Well… since they all had the same cake, couldn’t you factor that in? (With ceteris being more or less still paribus?)
J: Woman, you have NO CLUE ABOUT SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGY.
M: On day 4, the PI gave cake to the subjects….”
J: This conversation is at an end.
M: yes, yes, darling, and you know that if [the PI] goes down you’ll go down with him right?
J: It has nothing to do with me! I am NOT having my name put anywhere near that paper!
M: Ten foot pole!
