the other day i was making a carbonara sauce (the sensible thing to do — there was a little leftover bacon and cream to use up after my scallop adventures, and the fridge was overflowing with eggs, the father and i both having put them on our separate marketing lists  — a family of three does not eat 20 eggs, by any stretch of the imagination.) i think the heat was too high though, i ended up with lumps of slightly curdled eggs in my sauce. plainly, not good, as sauces go, but as scrambled eggs went i quite liked my lumps, so this morning i got up and had a good old fashioned fry-up, with a dish of eggs scrambled the same way, bacon (fried to american dining hall standards, which is to say shattering VIMESIAN), and honey on toast (feeling a little like winnie the pooh), and hot dark vanilla tea.
