The Singapore Botanic Gardens became our first UNESCO World Heritage site last week. The nomination dossier (147MB from the SBG website) is worth a look, not least because I for instance learnt an enormous amount of history as well as conservation policy (the whole document runs to 872 pages), and also because it was praised by the committee as the very model of how a nomination dossier ought be (which i noticed made at least a few of our civil service friends engage in much self-congratulatory social media back-patting…)
