August 7, 2020 oyster stress

i was looking up something on the china genome institute website on pig cloning when i came across the title of this paper: “The oyster genome reveals stress adaptation and complexity of shell formation.” (Nature,2012,490(7418):49-54.)

and the thought that rises irresistibly to the frothy top of my facetious brain was: what does an oyster have to be stressed about?

(one would imagine, like the hedgehog, that an oyster can never be buggered)
