the other day the boss made a brazil joke, when he asked me to fill out some court forms (“help me fill out these 27B stroke 6 forms”) he turned out not just to be a sci-fi film/tv buff but also a comic fan — he readily revealed his tablet to be specially sized for comic reading and would appear to have every published edition of 2000AD loaded on it (he loves the judge dredd series) and everyday we’ve been in court so far he’s been reading them during the long breaks between his sessions.

when one day i brought up doctor who, he said he rooted for…the daleks (!) and suggested i read second empire, a comic about the internal intrigues and politics of the dalek empire. (me: you follow not only canon but fan fic?!?!) i do boggle.

also, he collects vintage slide-rules. (he even comes up in a new york times article). still waters run very deep indeed.
