i was thinking about my first (and only) easter egg hunt, at the jensen house when i was already of the grand old age of 24. i was stopping over with them on my way to new york, back from visiting julian in beaufort, and janice hearing that i’d never hunted easter eggs organised an impromptu one in her garden. the jensen family has plugged more of the holes in the american childhood i was trying to have belatedly than any other american fmaily. apart from inviting me to my first proper thanksgiving with an american family, it was also her daughter christine, my first year suitemate, who took me to a county fair (because of charlotte’s web), where i ate funnel cake and petted lambs and went on a sort of carousel type ride.other things i’ve not yet done and would like to:
1. have someone carve a jack o’lantern
2. go to a baseball game (the red sox for preference)
actually i have rather run out of things. what else do american children do that i ought to try once?
