looking at trust law cases with the charitable purpose of “relieving poverty” (here poverty doesn’t mean destitute but for those who might “go short”) and finding that UK Courts have upheld as valid charitable purpose trusts “for ladies of limited means” (re: gardom), and for “poor relations” (re: scarisbrick), and, i was utterly gleeful to find, “for decayed actors” (spiller v maude).on that thought, oughtn’t one also to be able to set up a charitable purpose trust “for failed, embittered post-docs and ABDs?)
